Concord Jazz Festival

After a 15-year hiatus, the Concord Jazz Festival will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Concord Pavilion in Concord, Calif., with featured artists such as Chick Corea, the Count Basie Orchestra, and more.

Last held in 2004, the festival is known for having had a direct impact on the founding of the Concord Jazz record label, which was launched in 1973 and has gone on to great success in the industry.

“The creation of this festival by visionary Carl Jefferson in 1969 led directly to his formation of the Concord Jazz label just a few years later,” Concord Records president John Burk said in a statement. “Therefore, we at Concord Jazz owe a great debt to Jefferson and the City of Concord, and we are thrilled to partner with Live Nation in bringing the Festival back home for its 50th Anniversary.”

The anniversary lineup includes  https://jazztimes.com/columns/tangents/dave-koz-the-born-collaborator/" rel="nofollow - Dave Koz  & Friends Summer Horns,  https://jazztimes.com/features/esperanza-spalding-star-time/" rel="nofollow - Esperanza Spalding ,  https://jazztimes.com/features/chick-corea-and-roy-haynes-synchronized-times/" rel="nofollow - Chick Corea  Spanish Heart Band, the Count Basie Orchestra featuring Patti Austin, Jamison Ross, Carmen Bradford, and  https://jazztimes.com/features/poncho-sanchez-straight-up/" rel="nofollow - Poncho Sanchez  and his Latin Jazz Band.
