This is a band that I know something about, I wrote a bio for JRF on PA when they get added so you can use the same one if that's ok with you. http://www.discogs.com/Surgery-%C3%9Cbermorgen/release/2754216" rel="nofollow - Discogs

In 1975 in Marl, Thomas MIEBS, Rainer DAEDELOW (bassist later replaced by Udo FUELLHAAS),  Gerd GITZA and Rudiger FREITAG were a a part of a short-lived band called TORAGERU. The band suffered a major loss when Gerd GITZA lost his life in a car accident around the same time and his place as a guitarist would be taken over by Herbert KLINGER, a long-time friend of FUELLHAAS. As this events occured, the band changed their name to SURGERY in September 1976, and soon they were joined by sax placer Udo CUSTODIS from the group JOIN IN. During their early years they took part three times in a band contest Vest-Rock where they represented their juridiscal district Marl where they were judged along side symphonic bands like TRILOGY and ROSSEAU, which resulted in winning the first place in the contest of 1978. Their first LP was released in 500 copies in 1980 which was sold to friends, at gigs and a few record shops in the area which didn't help SURGERY get anything more than local fame (and out of 50 live performances in their seven years of existence 29 were in their hometown Marl). The band would go through a few more line-up changes after the release of LP until 1982 when Herbert KLINGER turned more to pure jazz and wanted to abandon field of rock and jazz-rock entirely. The group didn't want to go on without him so they disbanded in May in 1982 and performed one more farewell gig at Wulfen festivan in July of the same year.

Their LP (recently re-released with some live performances) can be recomended to fans of german jazz rock that tiptoes the area of krautrock in a similar manner like bands MUNJU, JOIN IN,  MISSUS BEASTLY and THIRSTY MOON.
