Hey all.   I’m trying to find a piece of AMAZING
jazz instrumental music. The problem is I have
no idea who’s album it is. The song in question
has a female vocalist that sang an awesome lead piece,
not lyrics, just “scat” style. very progressive. I
heard it a few years ago on sattelite ‘Real jazz’
This girl has phenomenal control and it was a
very challenging piece.   I’m going crazy trying
every search phrase i can think of on google.

Anybody have a clue who i’m taking about?

What you just described applies to hundreds of songs, without some sample of the actual music, I doubt you will ever find this song.
Anyway, one female singer who often scat improvises without any lyrics is Flora Purim.
Good luck.

Sara Serpa is another vocalist who often sings without lyrics.

It could be Urszula Dudziak. She is a singer from Poland. She has some amazing scat style songs:

actually, a lot of singers can be fit onto the categories you named.
Try to search over here - https://takelessons.com/blog/popular-jazz-songs-females-z02
