The UK’s Jazzwise Magazine has published its rundown of the 20 best jazz releases of 2017, with Cecile McLorin Salvant at the top of the list with her ‘Dreams and Daggers’ LP – the publication says she’s one of the most exciting jazz singers to emerge in years. Other albums on the list include saxophonist Denys Baptiste with a tribute to his hero John Coltrane, Pianist Ahmad Jamal, trumpeter Christian Scott and John McLaughlin’s Grammy nominated album recorded live at Ronnie Scott’s.
