It was announced that one of the most acclaimed jazz and experimental music venues in Copenhagen, Jazzhouse, is taking over SuperDeluxe for 10 days in May, and have curated the music program together with a panel of six Japanese music professionals.

OPPOSITE 2017 brings no less than 30 Danish artists to Tokyo, among others the internationally acclaimed guitarist Jakob Bro, who is touring regularly in Asia, Liima who are on the verge of an international breakthrough and Selvhenter, one of the most sought-after quintets right now.

The event will be broadcasted live by the online radio station The Lake.

Throughout 2017, Danish musicians and composers will perform in Japan and Japanese composers and musicians will perform in Denmark. OPPOSITE 2017 celebrates the 150th Anniversary of diplomatic connections between Japan and Denmark.

Michelin gastronomy and special designed furniture is part of the take-over

At the launch it was made official that the Danish master chef Jonathan K. Berntsen from the award-winning Michelin restaurant CLOU in Copenhagen, will create a pop-up restaurant during the 10 days, serving a special 7 course menu every day at the venue with limited seatings. From Monday to Wednesday CLOU will furthermore do a site-specific food and sound art event in collaboration with the Danish composer Anders Lauge Meldgaard.

The award-winning architect Bo Benzon will transform SuperDeluxe in a complete redesigning of the interior with help from the Danish furniture maker darling Engelbrechts. The branding and design agency e-Types has developed the visual identity for the event.

Visual art by Andreas Schulenburg, Nina Wengel, Inger Scharff and Merih Koç, Thorbjørn Bechmann.
