George Clinton returning to San Jose Jazz Summer FestSan Jose has five months to make sure its power grid is amped up because George Clinton and Paliament-Funkadelic are coming back to the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest. The last time the famed funk and soul group played the festival in 2010, their performance was so powerful it actually tripped a breaker and knocked out electricity in Plaza de Cesar Chavez. Fans were left literally in the dark — wondering whether the Friday night show had gotten so wild that the city had pulled the plug on Clinton. That wasn’t the case, but it was a topsy-turvy night in any case — even Pat Dando, who was then CEO of the San Jose/Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, and then-San Jose Councilwoman Rose Herrera were on stage dancing with the band. At San Jose Jazz Winter Fest shows, audiences have been hearing the news that Clinton and his band are slated to play the Friday night slot on the main stage, and San Jose Jazz Executive Director Brendan Rawson confirmed that Saturday night. Agreeing that the show remains the benchmark all other Friday night performers are compared to, Rawson hopes the city’s ready with as much electricity as the band and the audience. from http://www.mercurynews.com Edited by snobb - 28 Feb 2017 at 6:31am |
