Queens College Presents Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World Festival
Third annual festival will take place July 16

The Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College has
announced the third annual Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World festival—an
all-ages curation of music, art and food celebrating the life and
legacy of the jazz icon—to take place on July 16 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
in Queens, New York.
Headlining this year’s festival, in order to pay homage to
Armstrong’s New Orleans roots, is Dr. John, along with Soulive and
Kermit Ruffins. Rounding out the lineup will be local acts with
“international flair showcasing Armstrong’s influence on a variety of
music and staying true to his ‘you gotta listen to all types of music’
mantra,” according to a press release announcing the festival.

The festival also includes Louis’ Backyard Bash, which will take
place throughout the park and feature DJs and lounge areas in the Queens
Museum and Queens Theatre, as well as family-friendly activities.
Additionally, the Queens Museum will highlight notable jazz spots in its
world-famous Panorama. 
Registration for the free festival is available at the festival website.
A limited number of preferred access tickets, which include reserved
seating in front of the Main Stage and for patrons 21 and over, free
access to indoor beer gardens in the Queens Museum and Queens Theatre,
are available for $20.
Grammy-winning artist Lauryn Hill headlined last year’s festival, which received praise from NY1 News, Vibe, the Huffington Post and the Village Voice,
attracted thousands of New Yorkers to pay tribute to the trumpeter, and
also featured Antibalas, Ozomatli, Rebirth Brass Band and Shannon
Powell’s Traditional All-Star Band. 
“This summer is our third festival, and along with our first two
festivals, sets the stage for us to become an iconic New York City event
[in Queens]! We are grateful for the continued support and guidance of
the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, and also to a new sponsor,
GoldenVoice, for supporting us in many ways this year,” said Jeff
Rosenstock, executive director of Kupferberg Center for the Arts, in a
press release.
