SOK • Der Grüne Vogel

Some DDR-era stuff, just recently resurrected by a Berlin-based outfit, called Black Pearls. Pressed on vinyl just before last Christmas. Der Grüne Vogel IMO is somewhat inferior to the best albums by other Eastern Block artists like Jazz Q, Energit, Modry Efekt or Arsenal, but it's a bouncy and reasonably well played fusion album nonetheless.

Wonderful, thanks!

I am not sure, though, why The Birdie has landed in the Jazz-Related RNB section. Sounded like fusion to me .. maybe I am getting a little too old and hard of hearing Disapprove

It falls sort of between extended jazzy RnB flavored jam sessions and fusion. The presence of vocals on some numbers and the RnB flavor of many cuts finally pushed them into the RnB camp, but fusion wouldn't be a bad tag for them either. In many ways they reminded me of Dreams and The Flock, also Buddy Miles' band. I think we have all of those tagged in JR RnB too.
Their bio lists them as a jazz-funk band, so the RnB flavor is consciously there.
