FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Photos Available on Request A Child's Christmas In Wales Sunday, December 21, 2014 3pm First Presbyterian Church 8001 Mesa Blvd Austin, TX General admission tickets $15 ( $10 seniors, $5 children) Experience a bit of holiday magic when Texas jazz musicians Alex Coke, Suzi Stern, Rich Harney, and Evan Arredondo illuminate the text of Dylan Thomas' short story, A Child's Christmas In Wales. Now in its seventh year, these four friends (and award winning musicians) celebrate the season-and the author's centennial- together through song, story, and improvisation, bringing the beloved holiday tale to life just like an old time radio hour. Austin jazz vocalist Suzi Stern composed the songs, sings and narrates the story, accompanied by first call pianist Rich Harney (on two pianos), Evan "STICKY LOPEZ" Arredondo on double bass and the amazing Alex Coke on flute, saxophone & a dazzling array of toys and sound effects, inspired by the poet's Christmas memories. In true holiday spirit, A Child's Christmas In Wales gives the gifts of wonder, mirth and music to listeners, art lovers, families and children of all ages. 'Once upon a time, three Austin jazz musicians went Christmas shopping. They came home with snow, wistful memories of snow, tall quiet drifts of snow. They also came home with a storybook, a nostalgic Christmas tale by the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. And they came home with toys: whistles and bugles and squeaky rubber ducks. The jazz musicians sat together with their gifts, their memories, their instruments. And then they created a piece of art - part music, part spoken word, part toy symphony ...'
