I'm a relatively young musician involved in various bands, and most of the players in the bands have never even heard of, let alone like Kenny Wheeler, who's trumpet playing and beautiful music was and still is admired by all the jazz critics. When you look on youtube, the videos with his music are on average yielding below 5,000 views. How can this be possible? He was so well-esteemed... meanwhile everyone knows Miles, Everyone knows Dizzy, Shorter etc. All the young people know all the other old musicians, except Wheeler it seems. If anyone has any idea why this is, I'd be interested to hear your opinions, as i find this rather odd.

Kenny Wheeler was a Canadian, living in UK, the country which was well known by their rock music but far not so - by jazz. For decades, you needed to be American, or to reside in US to be a jazz star.

From other hand, I think Wheeler still is one of most internationally renown UK-based jazz musician

I've always enjoyed Kenny's playing, and he was well known to me as far back as the 70s.
I moved this to the artist appreciation section.
