The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., has announced the full lineup for the second season of Direct Current, its showcase of contemporary culture, which runs this year from Mar. 24 to Apr. 7.

The two-week event spans the stylistic gamut, with performances in dance, music, and multimedia. Pianist Jason Moran, the Kennedy Center’s artistic director for jazz, helped plan the programming, which features a wide variety of acts, such as Bon Iver, Bill T. Jones, Caroline Shaw, Du Yun, I’m With Her, Roomful of Teeth, and the National Symphony Orchestra.

As far as jazz is concerned, the showcase has made room for a number of improvising musicians, including singer Amirtha Kidambi’s Elder Ones (Mar. 25), guitarist Mary Halvorson (with saxophonist María Grand on Mar. 27 and with her own Code Girl ensemble on Mar. 28), Mexican vocalist Magos Herrera (with the Brooklyn Rider string quartet on Apr. 7), composer Henry Threadgill (with his Double Up ensemble on Apr. 5), pianist Vijay Iyer (with his sextet on Apr. 6), saxophonist Roscoe Mitchell (Mar. 28), and drummer Tyshawn Sorey (Mar. 29).
