I'll definitely second Bobby, especially Happenings but also San Francisco.

Some of the Sven Libek OSTs have some nice vibes too (fairly light) esp Inner Space

I think Dave Pike to be a wonderful musician. I think that he can play the music of various styles. And I think that Steve Nelson is good recently. However, there is not yet Steve Nelson in the site.

Lionel Hampton is the one that comes immediately to mind

Then Gongzilla (with the Moerlen brothers)
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicted musicians to crazy ones....

Herbie Mann is a flute player, but his albums often feature a vibraphonist. Vibes plus flute equals beatnik cool. Cool

Steps Ahead and other Mike Maineri recordings. Doesn't Bill Bruford use vibes on the Feels Good To Me album but with the vibrato function turned off?

A real classic is Gary Burton's "Crystal Silence", one of the most popular jazz vibraphone albums ever. The music is very nice.

I would be all over that.  I'm a huge fan of MeTaL-O-PHoNe, Jean Louis, and all those other connected groups

How'd I miss this thread??

In addition to what everyone has mentioned, Dave Holland and Charlie Hunter have prominently featured vibraphone and marimba in their albums; very much recommended.

Just discovered Mike Mainieri (with his 'Norwegian Posse' - including Nils Petter Molvaer and Bugge Wesseltoft, no less) on the 2006 release, Northern Lights. A mixed bag of  chill out  nu-fusion, and more straight ahead NYC vibe-lead jazz fusion.

Anybody checked out (Percy Jones') Tunnels (and indeed their recording label Buckyball Records) over the last 10 years of playing and releases, for the vibes and midi-vibes of Marc Wagnon.
