Mario Stantchev [Bulgaria]

Bulgarian pianist Mario Stantchev for Hard Bop/Contemporary Jazz, although he plays variative styles including World Fusion at least in one album (Folklore & Jazz from 2015). You're better with the styles anyway :) I am not certain about the fullness of his discography - I have just 2-3 albums of his and haven't been able to find the rest, but I also haven't really tried hard enought as I discovered him not 2 years ago.

Born in 1948 with a Bulgarian father and a French mother. In Bulgaria he played with almost every known jazz musician. His debut was with the eponymous effort by Simeon Shterev Quartet in 1976. He escaped communist Bulgaria in 1980 and worked as a jazz musician in France, where he established himself as a realtively known man and has taken part in numerous jazz releases. In the 90s he hold a masterclass for jazz piano at the New School of New York and just a bit later a schollar book for jazz piano of his has been released by French "Dechert" publishing.
