Gilles Peterson hosting 'British Jazz Showcase' at Le Possion Rouge, New YorkPopular BBC DJ, Gilles Peterson will be hosting “British Jazz Showcase” at Le Possion Rouge, New York. Peterson is also the founder of the record label, Brownswood. The show will have the bands like The Comet is Coming, Yazz Ahmed, Nubya Garcia, and Oscar Jerome. The show is brought to the theatre by PRS Foundation & BBC Music Introducing.Winter Jazzfest is all about UK jazz on a single stage. Since 2015, this platform has been created to support the UK’s upcoming and talented artists who get to showcase at overseas events. The fest witnesses a stellar line-up of emerging artists like tenor saxophonist Nubya Garcia, trumpeter/composer Yazz Ahmed, and vocalist, guitarist and composer Oscar Jerome. The highlight of the show will be the London-based band, The Comet Is Coming. They will close the show with their elements of jazz, electronica, funk psychedelic rock and funk. Interestingly, the band members are popular by their pseudonyms “Danalogue the Conquerer,” “Betamax Killer,” and “King Shabaka.” Their real names and identities are, saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings, drummer Max Hallett, and synth player Dan Leavers. The band had won a nomination for the Mercury Prize for ‘Channel the Spirits,’ their debut album, in 2016. It is also one of the recipients of the Momentum Music Fund, this year.
