EX EYE is a bizarre avant-metal meets jazz outfit from NYC
reminds me a bit of John Zorn's frantic jazz meeting metal and electronica all swirling around together

videos not working here :(
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aipg9gjEySc&t=734s

already on PA for quick copy if you want it

No thanks, its just non-stop Tuetonic beats without a speck of syncopation. I don't think we have any other bands on here with this lack of rhythmic sophistication. If we do, they probably should be deleted.

Hmmm.... i don't think you listened to the whole album but granted it's not the main focus of the site to have strange bands like these that utilized free jazz with metal.

So is syncopation a necessary factor for jazz-related categories? Lots of free form jazz is more complex than mere syncopation and falls into the world of jazz often for its instrumentation alone.

Please give me some parameters of where the line is drawn for these experimental types of artists. There is really no detailed explanation on the Jazz-related rock category here. I would like one so that i can avoid wasting everyone's time :)

Thanks

We get a lot of people on here asking us questions about certain arrangements or seeking help identifying pieces of music or artists, but the questions you ask are in a field all your own.

But yes, by definition, syncopation is a basic component of jazz, and likewise, would be a component in music that is similar to jazz or 'jazz-related'.
