Paquito D’Rivera is a Cuban-born composer, reeds player and bandleader. Beginning his musical career playing the clarinet as a classical music prodigy, Paquito went on to discover and excel in diverse genres from classical to jazz to bebop to Latin. He is the winner of 14 Grammy Awards and now tours the world with his ensembles—the Paquito D’Rivera Big Band, the Paquito D’Rivera Quintet and the Chamber Jazz Ensemble. In 2005, he was awarded the National Medal of the Arts and was named an NEA Jazz Master. Paquito now returns to 92Y promising a sizzling evening of Latin jazz.
