KAMASI WASHINGTON, STANLEY CLARKE AND MEHLIANA/SCOFIELD LINE-UP FOR LOVE SUPREME

The fourth edition of the Love Supreme Jazz Festival, which runs from 1-3 July, returns to its now firmly-established home in the bucolic south downs setting of Glynde Place, East Sussex, with Jazzwise as media partner, and features its winning mix of jazz, soul and funk headliners and a vibrant contemporary, UK-centric jazz line-up alongside international names. Main stage headliners announced already include iconic singer songwriter Burt Bacharach, who took Glastonbury Festival by storm last year, as well as singers Grace Jones, Melody Gardot, Lianne La Havas and Kelis.

The jazz-side of the programme is looking good with international stars including sax supernova Kamasi Washington, acclaimed jazz singer Cécile McLorin Salvant, bass legend Stanley Clarke and his hard-hitting band, while revered keyboardist Brad Mehldau and New York drum ace Mark Guiliana crank it up with their jazztronica duo, Mehliana, debuting at the festival in a special exclusive UK appearance with guitar guru John Scofield. Genre-busting Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf is also set to appear as is harmonically-daring vocal sensation Jacob Collier.

The strong contingent of UK talent booked so far also includes Jazzwise cover stars GoGo Penguin, singer/pianist Anthony Strong Quintet, the loud and lary Beats & Pieces Big Band, pianist/singer supreme Liane Carroll, guitarist Femi Temowo with Engines Orchestra plus Partikel’s String Theory QuartetBinker & Moses, nu-jazzers Native Dancer, Riot Jazz Brass Band, Birmingham neo-soulstersTrope and an appearance by 6Music jazz DJ Gilles Peterson. Other names so far announced include Scottish jazz funk stars Average White Band, swing jazz act The Correspondents, Dutch diva Caro Emerald and electro jazz producer Swindle.

Complimented by bars, international food stalls, jazz record and merchandise stands, children’s area and fun fair, those attending the festival can buy day tickets with on-site camping and luxury glamping options available.
