New Orleans Jazz Fest Lineup Announced

Hancock/Shorter + Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon among headliners

The lineup for the 2016 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, taking place April 22 to May 1, has been announced. As has been true for many years now, the majority of the headlining acts do not fit into the jazz category. They include: Stevie Wonder, Pearl Jam, Neil Young, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Steely Dan, Snoop Dogg, Paul Simon, Beck, Van Morrison, Julio Iglesias, J. Cole, Elvis Costello, My Morning Jacket, Gary Clark Jr., Bonnie Raitt, Maxwell, Irma Thomas, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Mavis Staples, Flo Rida, Janelle Monae, Gov’t Mule. Ms. Lauryn Hill, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk with Art Neville, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Isley Brothers, Los Lobos perform La Pistola Y El Corazon, Punch Brothers, Taj Mahal, Rhiannon Giddens and Buddy Guy. 


Jazz-related artists listed on the official festival poster include: Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, Dr. John, Jon Batiste and Stay Human, Aaron Neville, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Chris Botti, Kermit Ruffins, Gregory Porter, Snarky Puppy, Ellis Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, Geri ALlen, Arturo Sandoval, Rebirth Brass Band, a tribute to Jelly Roll Morton (featuring Henry Butler, Butch Thompson and Dr. Michael White), Irvin Mayfield & the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Jack DeJohnette, Ravi Coltrane and Matt Garrison, and a tribute to the late Allen Toussaint.
