Knoxville’s Big Ears Festival Set for March 27-29

Bill Frisell, Bad Plus, Nels Cline scheduled

The third Big Ears Festival, scheduled for March 27-29 in multiple venues throughout Knoxville, Tenn., includes several jazz artists among its eclectic offerings. The festival is also expanding its film programming this year and is spotlighting the film work of Bill Morrison. Among the jazz-related artists scheduled are Bill Frisell, the Bad Plus and Nels Cline.

Among the film highlights are 2010’s Spark of Being (with music by Dave Douglas), 2012’s The Miner’s Hymns (with music by Jóhan Jóhannson) and 2014’s Beyond Zero: 1914-1918 (with music by Aleksandra Vrebalov, performed by Kronos Quartet), along with a number of other shorter works.
