Hello,

I'm looking for albums of jazz band or groups (from current years) that preform covers of classic jazz standards.

I would appreciate any help on this.

Thanks.
Tal.

Marcus Roberts is a good one to start with.

Nir Naaman

Bob Lark

Manhattan Jazz Quintet

... and there is a lot more, let me know what you think of these four and I'll bring more.

Keith Jarrett's Trio albums on ECM are great also. "Whisper Not" 2000 release is my favourite of them and it is a double album as well. I much prefer Keith's Live standard albums to his own output. Heaps of Standards are covered on all of these Trio albums and all are great.

That makes sense to me, something to keep him from being too ...
Its interesting, the Keith I first heard as a youth played with Dewy Redman and Ornette's rhythm section, that was one of my first jazz albums. That was a whole nother Jarret, then his work with Miles and I was still interested, but he lost me on the Kolin concerts, I never listened much after that, but the recent trio standards are not bad at all.

Less pretence John.
