This moody night concert finished just an hour ago. Or better to say - heavy rain finished it. American singer and pianist Davina Sowers came with her band to beautiful Swiss resort town on Maggiore lake in Alps again after 6 years.
She sung/played at the open air stage right in the heart of miidle-age Old Town, on a small square close to old church. Charismatic leader, she leads a very professional clubbing sextet, consisting of very capable drummer, double bassist, soloing a lot trumpet and trombonist. It wasn't easy at the very beginning to find a better contact with a few hundreds of listeners, predominantly seasoned music lovers. The light rain, which started suddenly after some very hot days in town, didn't help as well. Still after few songs Davina found her way pushing public to participate in generally very rhythmic and hot concert more enthusiastically. At the end, one can even see few couples dancing lindy-hop. The band presented quite characteristic clubbing program, including some fast numbers and few lyrical songs, changing each other. Usual Davina's mix of r'n'b, blues, jazz, Americana, pop - all with strong Dixieland arrangements, worked well as often. Heavy rain started at the very end of the gig and finished it probably a bit earlier, than it has been planned. Davina Sowers, vocals & piano | Zack Lozier, trumpet | Matthew Hanzelka, trombone | Connor McRae Hammergren, drums | Graydon Peterson, double bass
