The classic jazz festival performance, which features Louis Armstrong and Dinah Washington, is released today by Kino Marquee

Bert Stern's classic film of the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival Jazz on A Summers Day is being re-released via the online platform Kino Marquee today, having recently undergone a full 4K restoration.

Featuring performances by Louis Armstrong, Thelonious Monk, Gerry Mulligan, Anita O’Day, Dinah Washington, Chico Hamilton, Mahalia Jackson and more, Jazz on a Summer’s Day features perhaps the most historically significant segment of the film—and possibly its least jazzy portion—is the appearance of rock & roll pioneer Chuck Berry, backed with some bemusement by Count Basie’s rhythm section.

Watch the trailer below:

Due to the restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic, the film is released today in "virtual cinemas" supporting independent art houses.
