A coterie of hot UK names are featured on Blue Note Re:imagined, a collection of 16 brand new studio recordings of classics from the iconic imprint’s vast and historic back catalogue which will be released this autumn.

Following in the footsteps of the hugely successful early 2000s Verve Remixed series – and the equally impactful 2018 Gilles Peterson-curated We Out Here compilation – the intriguing line-up here also includes Brit Award-winning vocalist Jorja Smith who takes on Saint Germain’s smoky dance-floor favourite ‘Rose Rouge’, which is out now as the first of several singles taken from the album.

This major project follows Blue Note’s 80th anniversary in 2019 and is significant for the focus it places on UK artists, who’ve been making a big impression on the US jazz scene in the past couple of years. Another tune on the album is an inventive reworking of Wayne Shorter’s ‘Footprints’ by Ezra Collective, while other artists who’ve cut fresh takes on classic tracks include Shabaka Hutchings, Nubya Garcia, Poppy Ajudha, Steam Down, Ishmael Ensemble and Emma-Jean Thackray.

While other song choices remain a closely guarded secret, rumours suggest that several Wayne Shorter songs are included as well as tracks by Herbie Hancock, Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Henderson, McCoy Tyner and others.
