I don't know if this is a stupid question. If it is, just let me know. But I'm looking for a type of jazz in which they talk frequently. A bit like some dramatic movie discourses spoken over the music. For example there's a track called "This is how men cry" by Marc Jordan which is a good example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aFTSkqQ0uE I know this track may be categorized under "Smooth Jazz" but this kind of movie-like speeches aren't that common in Smooth Jazz either. I'm looking a type of jazz (or maybe it isn't even jazz) in which you hear this more often. (It doesn't have to be in ALL or even HALF of the tracks, as long as it happens quite a bit.) If something occurs to you while reading this rather vague question, please let me know. Even the smallest lead I can follow to learn more can help me out. Thanks. John

That isn't a jazz style per se, but spoken word records with music backing do exist. Rod Mckuen put out a lot of records like that:

Thanks so much for the help JS.
This is kind of like the music I'm looking for. I didn't know the man, but I will look into his music. Thanks for your time, John

McKuen made many albums. Charles Mingus made one lengthy song with narration called "the Clown":
