Free jazz = avant garde jazz?
Anyway, Fab Trio definitely belongs to whichever genre it is. http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=32887 This album I've heard, but I have no idea of the three previous albums mentioned. They are a violin/bass/drums trio, the sound sometimes reminds me of the Cross/Wetton/Bruford KC, but they are full-blown jazz.

Free jazz doesn't equal AG jazz, but it is more like a subset of AG Jazz. Thanks for your suggestion, I will check it out.
