Cesária Évora  27 August 1941 - 17 December 2011) was a Cape Verdean popular singer. Nicknamed the "barefoot diva" for performing without shoes, Évora was perhaps the best internationally known practitioner of "morna."

One of my favourite artists, I was lucky to see her in a concert in Bucharest

I think the problem with a lot of the fusion music is that it's extremely predictable, it's a rock rhythm and the solos all play the same stuff and they play it over and over again ...

Great singer.  One of her best points was "she was the real deal" with her music.
