Je pense que le problème avec beaucoup de musique fusion est que c'est extrêmement prévisible, que c'est un rythme rock et que les solos jouent tous la même chose et qu'ils la jouent encore et encore ...

At the moment, I'm really digging Anthony Braxton's albums on BYG Actuel. Excellent stuff.

My favorite is Bram Stadhouders. One of the youngest and the best improvisers around Europe. At this young age he has achieved great success. I listen to jazz only because of him. He is coming up with a new project called Henosis. Check it out and listen to the best music samples here - http://www.bramstadhouders.nl/page1/page0/

"Henosis" is a combination between an ambient free jazz improvisation trio and a world-class 8-piece classical choir. CHECK IT OUT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

A cross between Bill Evans and T Monk might sound like Herbie Nichols.

Trying to find people who are not exactly fusion ... It's more of a wish list of people who struck me and whose discography i have to explore :

Ornette Coleman
Bill Evans
Joe Pass
Thelonious Monk

The Pass/Evans approach of the solo instrument and the work on resonance (and sometimes dissonance) is appealing to me a lot right now - like what Metheny did recently. I love is Girl from Ipanema version.
If Monk and Evans had a brainchild he would be my perfect jazz pianist.

Fabrizzio Cassol (of Aka Moon)... I'll be reviewing his solo albums in the next week or so
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicted musicians to crazy ones....
