http://www.jazzpolice.com/content/view/9852/79/ I recently saw McCoy Tyner (Oct 31), announcing a Coltrane homage, especially the album in duo with Johnny Hartman album (the concert was announced with José James)....
So, I rented out the album to get familiar again with it (hadn't heard it in two decades) The set-list ended up with only fout Coltrane tracks, one Ellington reprise. Thankfully, José James sang (crooner-style) on only three tunes (just two from the J. Hartman album, and the Ellington piece).... The rest (another four tracks) were his solo stuff, including one from the Fly With The Wind album and especially the Sahara title track ![]() So I'm kinda glad I did know the set-list before going. |

my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicted musicians to crazy ones....
