On Friday, May 4, 2018 at 10:00 pm EDT, PBS will premiere
Hugo Berkeley's Jazz Ambassadors,
a new documentary about the 1958 State Department program
that was designed to promote democracy and build bridges
to the artistic and intellectual communities behind the
Iron Curtain and throughout the Middle East.

The State Department recognized that American popular culture
was one of the country’s most effective secret weapons,
and jazz, in particular, was one of America's most important
cultural exports.

Time Magazine recently published an online article about the upcoming documentary, "Jazz Ambassadors" (time.com/5056351/cold-war-jazz-ambassadors).

On their newest CD, TIMELINEThe Brubeck Brothers Quartet celebratesDave Brubeck’s participation in the Jazz Ambassador State Department Tour, which turned out to be an historically important event for jazz.

Dave’s exposure to new cultures and new musical languages had a big impact on his compositions (such as Blue Rondo a la Turk) and consequently on the jazz world as well.

TIMELINE includes compositions written by Dave and inspired by that tour but with fresh, new re-arrangements by the Brubeck Brothers Quartet, as well as some compelling new originals.
Apart from its historic value—this is an exciting and varied outing, recorded crisply and with great warmth. The "Timeline" it reflects is not just in years, but also in a legacy which—lucky for all of us—continues its powerful forward movement today.” – All About Jazz, 5 Stars

An excellent tribute to Dave’s musical journey …not a speck of nostalgia or resting on one’s past laurels …All of this music is fresh and energetic and played with vital rhythms drawn from many cultures.” – Jazz Music Archives

Every tune on this project is exquisitely recorded and musically wonderful with a freshness and energy that compliments their father’s legacy yet expands it.” – Musical Memoirs

A fascinating album…” – The Art Music Lounge

The Brubeck Brothers Quartet has a robust tour schedule to promote the CD.
