I dig it. The relevant eras of Mingus, Coltrane, Corea et al contain some of my favourite pieces of music ever.

I probably own more post-bop albums than any other jazz sub-genre besides fusion

Yeah, post bop is the jazz genre I'm most aware of. (and probably fond)
Hancock, Davis, Coltrane, Henderson, Parlan, 60s McLean, Tyner, Corea, Shorter... et al.

From my own results so far, Post Bop is my third fave real-jazz genre after fusion avant-garde.... and I seem to rate them albums rather well too.

Frankly, up to a year ago I was completely absorbed by the Fusion, the classical, mostly. Then I discovered the Post Bop music of Corea via her live album with Hancock.
Yesterday I bought the compilation "Great Trios" by McCoy Tyner ... I have to listen.
Do you have some recommendations(?), because I'm discovering that this genre please me too much! Edited by 1967/ 1976 - 29 May 2011 at 1:12am |

Uuuuhmmmm!!!!...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As for McCoy Tyner (he's my fave pianist all genres together), if I may suggest that you try sahara, Extension, assante and Song For My Lady.... these are the albums where he gets as close to classic fusion, while remaining typically himself and post bop.
