The third edition of Ronnie Scott’s summer piano celebration, the International Piano Trio Festival, takes place from 15 to 20 August and features some of the leading lights from the UK, Europe and the US. Demonstrating the trio format’s rude health across a huge range of styles, heavy hitters appearing include hard-swinging US contemporary jazz great Cyrus Chestnut, who brings a stellar three-piece to the club in the form of bassist Buster Williams and Return To Forever sticksman Lenny White; revered Caribbean pianist Michel Camilo with his fiery Trio Latino of drummer Dafnis Prieto and bassist Ricky Rodriguez; renowned Polish virtuoso Leszek Możdżer fronting an intriguing line-up of Swedish bass star Lars Danielsson and Israeli percussionist Zohar Fresco in a classically-influenced group while leading Italian pianist Enrico Pieranunzi appears at Ronnie’s for the first time with his triumvirate.

Each headliner is supported by several homegrown greats including Nikki Yeoh’s mesmerising Infinitum trio alongside top-notch bass and drum siblings Mike and Mark Mondesir, with other nights featuring acclaimed UK players Robert Mitchell and Sam Leak, plus the club’s resident jazz maestro James Pearson, all leading their respective trios. Genre-hopping NYC trio Shalosh make their UK debut while the late-late show each night features trios led by Kate Williams, Lyle Barron, John Crawford, Chris Eldred and Sam James.
