Multiple Grammy winner will cross the U.S. in October and NovemberDiana Krall (photo by Mary McCartney) Supporting her 2017 album release Turn Up the Quiet, pianist/singer Diana Krall will launch a new 21-date U.S. tour Oct. 3 in Waterbury, Conn. According to the tour announcement from her label, Verve Records, the fourth North American leg of Krall’s ongoing world tour will continue through Nov. 4, when it lands in Costa Mesa, Calif. By the end of the year, the three-time Grammy winner will have performed in more than 100 cities in Europe and North America since the beginning of the tour last June. Among the cities scheduled for the fall run of the Turn Up the Quiet tour are Washington, D.C., Atlantic City, N.J., and rooms in the Midwest, Northeast, and West Coast. For local on-sale information, visit www.dianakrall.com. Tickets for most of the new tour dates go on sale this Friday, June 15 (10 a.m. local time). According to the Verve press release, Turn Up the Quiet is now the biggest-selling album of Krall’s career. The recording was the last Krall made with her longtime producer Tommy LiPuma, who passed away in March 2017. The album, which was released two months later, is dedicated to his memory. In his JazzTimes review, Christopher Loudon wrote of the album, “Playing and singing on all tracks and reunited with co-producer Tommy LiPuma, who died weeks before the project’s release, Diana Krall is in the mellowest of moods. She rarely raises her voice above a whisper, her self-accompaniment equally restrained. Even tunes typically handled with plenty of zest and verve—‘Blue Skies,’ ‘L-O-V-E,’ ‘Sway’—are winningly tempered. Vocally she’s grown a shade duskier, a degree or two grainier and, in the process, more enticing, more alluring.” Diana Krall World Tour 2017-2018 – October/November Dates 10/3 Waterbury, CT Palace Theater from https://jazztimes.com |
